Freedland Strategies is a full-service consulting firm that offers communications, research, and strategic services for global clients.
Freedland Strategies was founded in 2017 by James Freedland, a top strategist for nearly 20 years on city, state, and federal campaigns for a variety of political, non-profit, and corporate clients. James is a seasoned operative with a record of victories in New York and across the globe.
James also partners with Moonshot Strategies on a number of high-profile campaigns.
Named one of City & State’s 40 Under 40, James has been a frequent on-air television and radio guest, with appearances on networks including NY1, WNYC, WPIX, and CBS. He’s managed millions of dollars in digital, television, and radio ad placements.
Prior to launching his own firm, James was Managing Director of Metropolitan Public Strategies, a leading consultancy based in New York City. There, he managed a portfolio of major clients, including the successful $15 Minimum Wage campaign, the New York Hotel Trades Council, and Share Better, among many others.
Previously, James served as Director of Communications and Strategic Initiatives for the Office of the New York State Attorney General. In addition to overseeing day-to-day operations of the communications department, he managed all aspects of policy development, media outreach, strategic initiatives, speechwriting, and rapid response.
In addition to working on six winning congressional and U.S. Senate races since 2018, James handled communications for the successful campaigns of Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson in 2013, as well as Congressman Charles Rangel’s final competitive re-election race in 2014. James also provided strategic and communications services for the New York State Democratic Party, including the winning campaign of then-Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul.
A Michigan native, James received a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He is based in New York City and Stockholm, Sweden.
